Submission and stupid rules

i was the sign language interpreter for our congregation and there was about 15-20 deaf who regularly showed up.

We recently had a WT article on signing. When sisters are doing it, do they need to wear head covering as they are not really teaching but relaying the brothers talk. Not as simple as that! It also depends on the size of the screen where she is displayed. If it makes the sister larger and thus more prominent than the brother........ you guessed it!

Theocratic Terms/Slang - Old and New

) mentioned that there are some theocratic terms that we need to be reminded about.
he gave the example of many years ago when we said we were doing "back calls", but now we say we are doing "return visits".. here's some he mentioned (bad => good):.

What is the reasoning of Israelites being allowed to have concubines?

it seems to be contradictory too, because they weren't to have marriage alliances with other nations.
but, i guess using the woman as a sex slave and baby making machine was okay.

Also they were allowed to use prostitutes! This can be seen at Gen 38:12-26 where Judah mistook Tamar for a prostitute and had sex with her for the price of a sheep. Dual standards.

Becoming officially recognized as Annointed

" from what i've heard it's a very rigorous set of questions.
can anyone here confirm this?

Don Adams is president of WTB&TS of Pennsylvania. Max Larson is President of WTB&TS of New York (see inside of any WT magazine) and he is not of the anointed either, despite his age. There are quite a few more 'presidents' of the various corporations the WTS is now split into.
The GB members have to be anointed however, I think it was Haydn Covington who stepped down many years ago because he was not of the anointed.
I recently asked if a stranger was to partake, would they be counted? Answer NO. If a member of the congregation began partaking they WOULD be counted but would be throughly questioned about it. It cannot be just a feeling or calling. They have to be preaching, experienced etc etc.

All the talk at KH this evening was about the volcano in Iceland and the cloud of ash that it has ejected. All aircraft flights in/out of the U.K. have been cancelled from noon today and will not resume until noon tomorrow (Friday) at the earliest. GPS has also been affected causing problems on bus and taxi services.

Memorial Attendance: "What's Going On?"
by sweet pea inspoke to my dad today who attended the beckenham (london/kent) congregation's memorial - he said that for the first time the attendance was seriously down - 203 as opposed to last year's 250 and that penge (congregation that shares the hall) had a similar experience.
it's called the internet dad.. can we have a roll call of numbers from those that attended please?
(or if it's been covered already, a link?).

I remember once an old brother was fast asleep during the public talk. Then it came to the end and everyone applauded! The poor old chap got such a fright he jumped up out of his seat; he did not know where he was!

Elder called last night and they are stopping by tonite for a 'visit'.......
by troubled mind insurprised me that he actually followed up on his word and called .
it will be strange after four yrs.
to have them in our house .my husband was not happy to hear it will be two brothers coming over, because he really does not want to feel we are being counseled .

I know you are probably being encouraged here to join Ex-JW groups and I would not say they are wrong as they will understand your problems better than anyone, certainly better than me. However I wonder if they are not like other 'therapy groups', you will just sit around still talking about the 'truth' and related matters. Probably now is the time to make new friends who know nothing of your past. Join the local woodwork, camera, wildlife, or whatever group appeals, something completely different. Just a thought.
